Courmayeur, Aosta Valley: evening at the refuge “La Maison Vieille”
Courmayeur, Aosta Valley, 1.950 metres of altitude on the ski slopes, you can find the alpine refuge La Maison Vieille. The refuge is opened in winter from December to April and it represents an ideal place from which to enjoy breathtaking views of the imposing Mont Blanc and Aosta Valley high mountains covered by snow.
To spend a unique evening La Maison Vieille organises ski torchlight parades and snowmobile descents.
Meeting at Dolonne (a small mountain village just 700 m. far from Courmayeur) to go up to Col Chécrouit by snowmobile.
The refuge warm and friendly ambiance awaits hosts for a sparkling aperitif and a mountain traditional dinner, which includes: a dish of typical warm and cold starters, roast meat with vegetables and homemade cakes with ice cream.
After tasting ”Grolla” (Aosta Valley coffee served in a traditional wooden bowl), everybody is ready to follow an alpine guide along a ski descent enlightened by torchlights. As an alternative, jump aboard the snowmobile again and go down along the mountain slopes up to the village.
